Dennis Leander Wright Gayle, the second eldest child of Luke Gayle, Sr. and Elizabeth Gayle, was born on July 16, 1963 in Wedgefield, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on December 30, 2018.

Dennis, affectionately known as "Perk," resided in Wedgefield all his life. He was a 1982 graduate of Hillcrest High School, Dalzell, South Carolina. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and attended Bethel A. M. E. Church.

Dennis was married to Marie Daney of Alcolu, South Carolina, and the father of four sons and one daughter: Desmond Daney (Charlotte, NC), Donnell Wright (Charlotte, NC), Garrett Wright (Daytona Beach, FL), Desmond Blanding of Sumter, SC and Marie Wright who preceded him in death. He was the grandfather to 11 grandchildren.

Dennis was a hard worker. He was employed by Anderson Transfer and Storage in Sumter, South Carolina for more than 30 years. His employment at Anderson Transfer afforded him many travel opportunities.

In addition to his children, he leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories: his parents, Luke Gayle, Sr. and Elizabeth Gayle; three sisters: Shirley Taylor, Barbara Johnson  of Wedgefield, SC and Shelia Gayle (Rev. Kenneth) Howard of Blythewood, SC; two brothers, James Wright of Wedgefield, SC and Luke (Bennie) Gayle, Jr. of Wedgefield; seven nephews and nieces; three uncles; eight aunts; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Wright will be placed in the church on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 12noon on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Avenue Sumter, SC, with Rev. Larry Clark Officiating.

Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home of his parents, 66 Sally Street Wedgefield, SC 29168.
