Obituary

Deloris "Peggy" Manning- Stephens eternal journey began when she departed this life on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Sumter, SC. She was born November 8, 1964 to Francena Campbell and the late Brinell "Red" Manning in Sumter, SC. She was nurtured at an early age by her beloved grandmother, Ernestine Balls-Manning.

"Peggy" was preceded in death by her father: Brinell "Red" Manning, her grandmother: Ernestine Balls-Manning, her grandfather: Willie D. "Mutt" Manning, and two uncles: Willie D. Manning, Jr. and Stepney Manning.

"Peggy" attended the Sumter Public Schools of Millwood Elem, and graduated from Sumter High School in 1983. Earlier in her childhood, she became a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where she sung on the choir. Peggy not only attended the schools of Sumter, but she also was an employee, in which she was loved by many students.

On May 21, 1988, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ronald Percell Stephens of Clarendon County. This union birthed two beautiful children, Ronald K'Shaun Stephens and Alexandria Tierra Stephens.

"Peggy" leaves her precious memories to her husband, Ronald; one son, K'Shaun Stephens; one daughter, Alexandria Stephens (Dequan China); two grandchildren: Cortez Stephens and Rhylee China all of Sumter, SC; five sisters: Ernestine Manning of Jersey City, NJ, Synetra Walker-Deloach of Charleston, SC, Tiffany (Tavares) Hilton, Crystal Campbell, and Shikeema Francis all of Sumter, SC; five brothers: Brinell Manning, Jr., and Anthony Manning of Jersey City, NJ, Matthew Campbell, Steve Campbell, and Antonia Francis of Sumter, SC; a step-mom she loved dearly, Margie Francis and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Her contagious laughter, brilliant sense of humor, beautiful creativity, and joyous free spirit will truly and deeply be missed by family , friends, and classmates.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Stephens will be placed in the church on Saturday at 11am for viewing until the hour service.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 12pm at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center (Westend Community Church), Sumter, SC with Rev. Melissa Harvin, Officiating and Rev. Mary Ragins serving as the Eulogist.
Interment will follow in Bradford-Brunson Cemetery.
