Daniel McElveen, Sr., 83, widower of Shirley Timple McKithen McElveen and son of the late John W. And Nellie McCray McElveen, was born on May 2, 1938 in Sumter County, SC. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 in Sumter, SC.

He graduated from Eastern High School and then graduated from Denmark Technical College, where he received his credentials as an electrician. As a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church, he served as President of United Methodist Men, Usher, Lay Leader and choir member. Daniel served Masonic Skyway Lodge #461 for 55 years, Eastern Star Skyway Ch. 351 for 50 years, and sung with the Carolina Gospel Singers.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memory five children: Carolyn Wheeler, Daniel McElveen, Jr., James Wesley McElveen, Lee McFadden, and Mauriel McElveen; a special granddaughter, Nikki Wheeler; sixteen loving children; a special great-grandson, Joel Geter; three beloved great-grandchildren; one sister, Vernice Sattlewhite; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 4-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 South Salem Avenue, Sumter, SC 29150, with Rev. Shirley McKnight, Officiating.

Interment will follow in Goodman Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 1870 Goodman Road, Lynchburg, SC 29080.
