Obituary For Dr. Clinton Burgess

Clinton Burgess, 68, son of Edith Howard Burgess and the late Roland Burgess SR, died Monday, January 17, 2022 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter, SC. He was born on December 9, 1958 in New Zion, SC.

Clinton was preceeded in death by; his father, Roland Burgess SR; two brothers, Calvin Eugene Burgess and Quinton Burgess and one sister, Clara Bell Burgess Collins.

He received his formal education at East Clarendon High School in Turbeville, SC. After high school, Clinton attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. It was there that he graduated and received his Bachelor Of Science Degree in Chemistry. He also attended Creighton University (School Of Medicine) in Omaha, Nebraska, where he studied Premed. After graduating from Creighton University in 1982, he attended The University Of Nebraska Medicine Center where he acheived his Doctoral Degree and graduated in 1987 as M.D. Clinton Burgess. Dr. Burgess entered the United States Navy and continue to pursue his Medical Degree. In 1988 he graduated from The United States Navy Medical Center in Portsmouth,Virginia for Neuro Psychiatry.

Those left to cherish Dr. Burgess's loving memories are; his beautiful mother, that he cared for and loved, Edith Howard Burgess, of Turbeville, SC; three brothers, Frances Howard, of New Haven, Connecticut, Roland (Jannette) Burgess Jr, of Alcolu, SC and Jerome Burgess, of Camden, SC; a "Special" friend and brother, Ronald Coleman, of Port Arthur, Texas; two sisters, Thelma Burgess Mobley, of Turbeville, SC and Debra Burgess Lloyd, of New Zion, SC; one uncle, Vernal (Helen) Howard, of New Zion, SC; two aunts, Minnie Howard Collins of Pennsylvania and Elizabeth Howard, of New Haven, Connecticut; six aunts by marriage, Mary Howard, of New Zion, SC, Helen Howard, of New Zion, SC, Ella Howard, of North Carolina, Annie Ruth Howard, of Philadelphia, PA, Tina Howard, of Tampa, Florida and Debra Howard, of Henderson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; a "Special" cousin, Thomas (Bubba-Lee) Howard, of Newberg, NY, other relatives and "Special" Friends that he cherished like family.

Memorial Service for DR. Clinton Burgess will be held online via Zoom, Saturday, January 29, 2022.
