Chester Alphonso "Rock" Stavis, , 31, son of Sarah Thomas-Kinlaw and Chester James Stavis, and a step-son of Johnny Kinlaw, was born on February 25, 1987 in Sumter County. He departed this life on Wednesday, November  21, 2018 in Sumter, SC

Chester leaves to cherish his memories: his parents; his sisters, Laquanda Thomas and Katana Thomas; his brother, Demetris Thomas; also raised as a sister, Linda L. Scott; his maternal grandfather, Kenneth Thomas; additional step-siblings; and  a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews  and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Louella Scott Thomas; his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Elizabeth Stavis; aunts, Gloria Stavis and Annie Scott-Oaks; and an uncle, Larry Stavis.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Stavis will be placed in the church on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 12noon for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Grace Cathedral Ministries 60 Oswego Highway Sumter, SC 29150, with Bishop Anthony Gibson, Pastor, Officiating.

Interment will follow in Bradford Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 116 Albert Spears Drive Sumter, SC 29150.
