Charlie Garris, Jr., 62 husband of Wanda Sharper Garris, was born on April 4, 1955 and transitioned from his earthly home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at McLeod Hospital, Florence, SC. surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Charlie and Queen Murray Garris, Sr..

He was a 1973 graduate of Manning High school and was a graduate of Denmark Technical College where he earned a certificate in plumbing.

Charlie retired from Becton-Dickinson in 2010 after 35 years of service. His favorite past times were fishing and watching sports.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Anthony (LaRhonda) Avant of Manning, SC, Timothy Sharper of Columbia, SC, Tiffany (Frederick) Gibson of Manning, SC, Victoria Garris and Gabrielle Garris of Sumter; a granddaughter reared in the home Ty'Kaylicia; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Julia McFadden of Sumter; sisters-in-law, Gwen (Wayne) Montgomery, Wendy Sharper, Johnnie Mae Sharper, Sandra (Tommie) Pearson; brothers-in-law, Gary (Teresa) Sharper, Gregory (Robertha) Sharper, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, John "Bubba" (Edna Harvin) Sharper, sisters-in-law, Ella Harvin, Patricia "Ann" Sharper, brothers-in-law, Jimmie Harvin, Robert Andrews and Marshall "Michael" Sharper.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Garris will be placed in the church on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11am at Salem Chapel and Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29150, Rev. W.J. Johnson, Officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends at the home, 1200 Pepperidge Dr., Sumter, SC 29154.
