Obituary

Bonnah Mae Amos Ellerbe was born to John Amos and Vermell Hasty Amos on May 6, 1939 in Sumter, SC. She attended the public schools in Sumter, SC.

Upon completion of high school, she moved to New York, where she met and married Barry Ellerbe, Jr. They produced three sons: Jerridon, John, and Darryl. She was a homemaker until her children were of middle school age, then she went to work at Radio Relay, along with other jobs. She also opened her home to several foster children. Upon retiring, she relocated back to Sumter, SC and became a member of St. Jude Church on Oakland Avenue.

Those left to cherish her precious memories include: three sons: Jerridon of Coupaugh, NY, John (Shelia) of West Babylon, NY, and Darryl (Tasha) of Waterberry, CT; nine grandchildren: Jarrett, Latisha, Shawniece, Jamal, Kenisha, Barry, Buster, Michael, and Micquan; one great-granddaughter, Paris; three sisters: Wilma Royster, Martha (Henry, Sr.) Schoelfield, and Roberta (John) Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Amos; her mother, Vermell H. Amos; and one sister, Clotel Amos Barnes.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary, Inc.

Funeral service will be held at 12noon on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 611 W Oakland Avenue Sumter, SC, with Rev. Noly Berjuega Officiating.

Interment will follow in Bradford Cemetery.
