Bertila Ivane Delora Boyd-Bostic, Esquire was the spouse of Antoine Terrell Bostic, Esquire and the daughter of Jerry Nathaniel Canty, Sr. and Mary Lisa Boyd-Canty. She was born on July 6, 1987 in Hartsville, SC. Bertila departed this life on Sunday, October29, 2017 in Columbia, SC.

Attorney Bertila Boyd-Bosticwas a graduate of Wofford College and Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish from Wofford College located in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Attorney Bertila Boyd-Bosticalso holds a Juris Doctor from Mercer University where she earned a Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting. While attending Mercer University, she was a Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys in Law & Business McGuire Woods Scholarship Recipient, a Mercer Public Interest Fellowship Recipient, a member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, a member of the Hispanic Law Student Association, and a member of the Black Law Student Association.

She has previously interned at the Sumter County Solicitor's Office (Sumter, SC), the National Criminal Defense College (Macon, GA), and the Georgia Innocence Project (Decatur, GA). In addition, she has also clerked for Chief Judge Thomas Matthews of the Bibb County Juvenile Court (Macon, GA) and the first African American Supreme Court Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, Chief Justice Ernest Finney, Jr. (ret.).

She was an adjunct professor at Virginia College (Columbia, SC), a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, the Lexington County Bar and the Young Lawyer's Division of the South Carolina Bar. At the law firm, Bostic & Boyd, LLC, that she establishedwith her husband, Antoine Terrell Bostic, Esquire, with a focus on family law, neglect and abuse cases, post-conviction relief, criminal defense, personal injury, appellate law, business formations and civil litigation.

Bertila was an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated of Eta Zeta Omega Chapter Sumter, SC. She was a 'Legacy' Daughter of Soror Lisa Boyd-Canty (Eta Zeta Omega Member).

Bertila was raised up in Wesley Temple Holiness Church in Hartsville, SC.

Canty-Brown (Charles) of Sumter, SC; Eight uncles, John Canty, Jr. of Biloxi, MS, Willie Isaac of Hartsville, SC, Herbert Isaac of Hartsville, SC, Chief Master Sergeant Retired Leroy Canty (Tracey) of Valrico, FL, Dr. Michael Canty of Flatwoods, KY, Jerry Boyd (Bridgette) of Hartsville, SC, Kenny R. Boyd (Wanda) of Chesapeake, VA, Leverne Boyd of Columbia, SC, Michael Donnell Canty of Sumter, SC; six nieces, Amanda J. Canty, Lauren N. Burton, Morgan D. Canty, Janelle Rivers, Alyssia M. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Bertha Mae Boyd.

Mrs. Bostic will be placed in the church on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at 12 Noon for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday Nov. 4, 2017 at 1pm at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church 803 S. Harvin Street, Sumter with Pastor Marion H. Newton, Officiating.

Family will be receiving friends at the Canty Center, 627 Manning Ave, Sumter from 12-6pm daily.
