IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bertha M.
Jackson
August 24, 1947 – March 26, 2018
Bertha Mae "Sister" Jackson was born on August 29, 1947 in Clarendon County to the late Albertha Illery Jackson and Robert Jackson, Sr. Bertha departed this life on Monday, March 26, 2018 at MUSC in Charleston, SC.
She attended the public schools of Sumter County and became an alumnae of Eastern High School in 1967. She was employed as a childcare provider for over 30 years and had a special love for children and they all had a special love for her.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul AME Church. She devoted her time and dedicated service to the Allen Christian Endeavor (ACE) Fellowship, Junior Choir, Starlight Ministry, Chancellor Choir, Pulpit Aid Ministry, and Church School Teacher.
Bertha, affectionately called "Sister," loved her family and friends passionately and held a special love for her children and grandchildren. She knew the importance of training a child in the way he should go. She made sure her children attended church school and church services but most importantly, she attended with them.
She was an extraordinary culinary expert and loved her favorite television soap opera, "Days of Our Lives." She also enjoyed watching her favorite westerns "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke."
"Sister" will truly be missed because of her beautiful smile, kind and loving heart, but most of all, her unique nurturing ability she possessed and the love she showed with grace and tenderness.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Lisa M. Jackson of Sumter, SC and Kimberly T. Jackson of the home; one son, Adrian C. Jackson of the home; one sister, Susan E. Jackson of the home; one brother, Arthur Jackson, Sr. of Sumter, SC; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Jackson of Sumter, SC and Hazel Jackson of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren: Adrianne A. Rivers, Gabrielle I. Epps and Jordan Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
We Thank God immensely for the privilege to know and love Bertha. She will forever be remembered for all she did for others and the sacrifices she made; for there will be no other like her.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha V. Jackson and five brothers: John E. Jackson, James T. Montgomery, Charles Jackson, William Jackson and Robert Jackson, Jr.
