Azalee Ardis Geiger, a loving, sweet spirit, was a longtime resident of Sumter, SC. She was born on November 28, 1945, to the Willie Ardis, Sr. and Mary Loyd Ardis. She departed this life on Monday August 8, 2016.
She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She also attended a Career College to further her education. She was employed at Carolina Furniture Works for 20 plus years. She was a member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, SC. Azalee used her voice to sing with the choir, and gave praises to the Lord. She was blessed to see the world's first African American president.
Azalee enjoyed spending time with her family, fellowship, food and fun. She also loved her flowers, plants and trees, and always wanted to help things grow. Azalee loved the Lord and had a nurturing spirit. She loved to cook and feed many people, she specialized in a great sweet potato pie.
Azalee leaves to cherish her memory; three daughters, Cynthia Geiger Plunk, Teneshia Geiger Davis, and Nicole (Fred) Rose; seven grandchildren; sisters, Rev. Dr. Mary Ann (Leroy) Glisson, and Rev. Barbara Williams; one brother, Thomas Clay Ardis; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Public Viewing will be held on Thurs. August 11, 2016 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Geiger will be placed in the church on Friday at 9am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held on Fri. August 12, 2016 at 10 am at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, Sumter with Pastor Rev. Marion H. Newton, Rev. Ricky Simmons, Eulogist
Interment will follow in Walker Cemetery.
Family will be receiving friends at 625 Rainbow Drive, Sumter
