Arabelle Boyd, departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter, SC. She was born in Sumter County on July 6, 1929.
She was the third of eight children born to the late Willie Rembert Sr. and Gardenia Willis Rembert. Mrs. Boyd was reared and educated in the public schools of Sumter. Arabelle later moved to Washington, DC. in 1953. She married the love of her life the late Clinton Boyd in that same year after moving to Washington, DC.
She worked several jobs, later retiring from the Library of Congress in 1993. She was an honorable woman, a woman of integrity, dignity, strong family values, and loved and cherish her family. She had a special love for her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories; one sister, Willie Mae (Albert) Dinkins of Wedgefield, SC; two brothers, Ernest Rembert and James Rembert both of Wedgefield, SC; nephew, Jessie Rembert of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Theresia B. (Trevilian) Allen, Antonyetta Boyd and Sandra Boyd all of Washington, DC; one daughter-in-law, Ella J. Boyd of Washington, DC; eleven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; two step daughters, Vermell Holmes of Sumter, SC and Daisy of New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clinton Boyd and one son, James Boyd.

The family will have a meet/greet on Saturday Oct.8, 2016 at the church at 11am until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Sat. Oct. 8 at St. Paul AME Church (SHAW), Sumter at 12NOON with Pastor Eric Dent, Officiating
Interment will be held in Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, Virginia at a later date.
Family will be receiving friends at 1334 Arabelle Drive, Wedgefield, SC
