Obituary

Mrs. Anna Dora Clarkson was born in Sumter, South Carolina on Tuesday, August 29, 1944 to her late parents, Sarah B. Brunson and Marion Brunson, Sr. She departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, June 10, 2019 at the Sumter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sumter, South Carolina.

Anna Dora attended Ebenezer High School in Dalzell, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church of Woodrow, South Carolina, where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail. Anna also was a faithful member of the Burrows Mission Unit and as well as a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, both of Sumter, South Carolina.

Her loving memories are cherished by: two children and their children: Julia Clarkson of Hartsville, South Carolina (Z'eria Missouri, TyTiaunnia Thompson and Charles J. Thompson) and Sheryl (Chris) Tention of Sumter, South Carolina (Christina, Mary, Robert and Robynn Tention); seven sisters: Lelia Brunson and Sallie Tention both of Brooklyn, New York, Sarah McDaniel and Ruth Ann McClary both of Sumter, South Carolina, Annie Shaw of Dalzell, South Carolina, Martha Ferrer and Louise Albert, both of New York; six brothers: Marion Brunson, Jr. of Blackville, South Carolina, Matthew B. Rufus and James (Dorothy) Dow both of Sumter, South Carolina, Robert Dow, Thomas Dow and Wilson (Verna) Dow all of Columbia, South Carolina; one special nephew, Reynolds McDonald along with other nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Clarkson; grandparents, Sallie B. Rufus and Frank Rufus; an aunt, Bertha Knox; and an uncle, James Rufus.

Public Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2019 from 3-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Clarkson will be placed in the church on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Mt. Olive AME Church 2738 Woodrow Road Sumter, SC 29153, with Rev. Dr. Friendly Gadson, Pastor, Officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Garden.

Family will receive friends at 5505 Raymond Jenkins Street Sumter, SC 29153.

Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
