Andrea William Himes, "Andre," as he was affectionately called, was born on April 30, 1965, at Shaw Air Force Base to the late retired Master Sgt. WIllie Wade and Willie Mae Mack Himes. He quietly departed his earthly life to his heavenly home on June 10, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland.

He was educated in the public schools of Sumter and graduated from Sumter High School Class of 1984. After a brief stint in the United States Air Force, he returned home and continued his education at Central Carolina Technical College, majoring in welding. Andre was a sweet, devoted brother with a gentle and quite spirit. He was an avid reader, going to the library on a regular basis since he was a child.

Andre accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in Mount Pisgah AME Church. He later joined Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the men's Sunday school class. He was a faithful member and loved going to church and reading his Bible.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a brother, Lorenza Wadu Himes of the home; sisters, Sharon Lillian Himes of Charlotte, North Carolina, and twin sister, Denise Marie Himes of the home; nephew, Lorenzo Robinson of Washington, D.C.; aunt, Rebecca Himes-Sanders of Vauxhall, New Jersey; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Himes will be placed in the church at noon on Friday for viewing until the hour of service.

Homegoing services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 805 S. Harvin St., Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Marion H. Newton Sr., pastor, officiating and the Rev. Ricky Simmons, eulogist, assisted by the associate pastor, the Rev. Joseph Johnson Sr.

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

The family will be receiving friends at the home, 719 S. Main St., Sumter.
