Obituary

Amanda W. Grinnell was the daughter of the late Amanda Ellison and the and the wife of the late Arthur Grinnell, Jr. She was born June 5, 1943. She departed this life on December 17, 2016.
She retired from the Board of Education in Bronx, New York City and served 15 years as a foster parent with the Department of Social Services, Sumter, SC.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her daughters, Frances R. Ellison of Sumter, SC and Aja A. Wright of Virginia Beach, VA; six sisters-in-law, Ida (Willie) Williams of Winston Salem, NC, Mary Blair, Carolyn (Albertus) White, Hattie Lewis (Kenneth Holland), Deloris (Bobby) Blair and Alma (Mark) Jones all of Sumter, SC; four brothers-in-law, James (Bertha) Grinnell Jr, George (Inez) Grinnell both of Sumter, SC, John (Deneace) Grinnell of Columbia, SC and Harry (Pam) Montgomery of Sumter, SC; a former sister-in-law and lifetime friend, Grethea Crawford; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Ms. Grinnell will be placed in the church of Friday at 2pm for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 3pm at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Ave. with Rev. Randolph Black, Officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Family will be receiving friends at the home 4615 Starks Ferry Road, Sumter.
